Tell us about your career at Saga?
I started when I was 18, as a photographic coordinator in the Saga Holidays studio- I loved my job. My Dad thought I should get into IT, so I decided to leave for 9 months, but it didn't work out so I came back to Saga in to the finance department.
I continued with my exams outside of work time and eventually applied for a job in desktop support within the IT department. I was there for 3 half years, fixing computers and helping the services team. I then decided I wanted to work in development, so I asked my director if I could get a secondment into the IT software development team, and that's where my career as of now started. I worked as a developer for a number of years, and was then promoted to project manager where I led a team of people.
What has been your career highlight?
Moving into software development was something I really wanted to do when I left school, it gave me the opportunity to learn a programming language. I enjoy building and developing a system that the company uses. Moving into project management that was also a highlight for me.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I love being a manager and being there, being able to help my team when they ask me, and being the point of contact for the business. I like that I am able to help, and that I am able to make a difference.
Where do you see yourself in a couple of years?
I really like my job, the next step is to become a principle project manager, which I would love to aspire to. But really I just want to maintain being a better manager and being there for more people.
